I'm thrilled to announce that Jim Grinstead of Nashville has been named as the new Executive Director of Democracy for Tennessee!

Jim, a Missouri native, joined DFA Nashville in the summer of 2006 and became active on the DFAN Steering Committee. Aside from his work with the Nashville group, Jim also signed on as one of the instructors in the DFT Root Camp training program, where he gave invaluable instruction on media and communications. He also provided media consultation for DFT chapters and several of our candidates, including as a key advisor to Gracie Porter, the DFT-endorsed candidate who won a landslide victory in Nashville last August.

Jim has more than 35 years of experience in journalism, including reporting for both print and broadcast media. He was the owner of a group of weekly publications in the Kansas City area and an editor for the former Milwaukee (Wis.) Sentinel. He is now publisher of trade books and newsletters dealing with sports and convention facilities. Jim is a former "actelete" with the improvisational group, ComedySportz. He lives in South Nashville with his wife, Linda.

Jim now joins Democracy for Tennessee as its new Executive Director, who, along with myself, will continue to do our part in helping grow the progressive grassroots in the Volunteer State.

Welcome aboard, Jim!
