DFT Mixes and Mingles at Media Reform Conference

Some 25 activists from across the Democracy for America coalition gathered for dinner on Saturday night at the National Conference on Media Reform.

DFAers from Tennessee, Connecticut, Missouri, and Georgia met at T.J. Mulligans Pub to have dinner and drinks, to talk about the issues raised at the media conference, and to tell us what their DFA groups have done in the last year – and what they’re planning for 2007.

DFT Endorses Reginald Fentress for Shelby County Commission!

Democracy for Tennessee is proud to announce its endorsement of Reginald Fentress, candidate for the Shelby County Commission (District 2, Position 2).

Fentress is an elementary school teacher in Memphis and has served as a corrections officer and a counselor for troubled youth. He also has experience on drafting legislation as a member of the TEA's legislative committee. Fentress is a member of Democracy for Memphis, which is actively campaigning for him in a bitterly contested Democratic primary race in a Democratic district.

March Madness in Memphis as DFA Training Academy Comes to Town!

Despite a weekend of March Madness - which had the University of Memphis battling UCLA for a slot in the NCAA's Final Four - dozens of grassroots activists, Democratic Party officials, campaign managers, and candidates turned out for Democracy for America's nationally-acclaimed training program, DFA TRAINING ACADEMY, in Memphis on March 25 & 26.

DFA Candidates Forum Kicks Off Congressional Race in Memphis!

Coalition-Building and Campaign Work for Democracy for Memphis!

Democracy For Memphis continued to expand in April and May as we increased our number of contacts and partners in coalition efforts. Both of our monthly Meetups focused on two main issues: The Billionaire's Ball fundraiser and the June 25th Democratic Party reorganization.

Democracy for Memphis is up and running!

The Memphis branch of Democracy for America is quickly getting up and running.

Our January meetings were attended by almost 20 people, most of whom are new to DFA and grassroots political activity. The main topic of discussion was how to better reach out in our communities and work in concert with other local like-minded groups within Memphis and Shelby county.
